Frizzy hair is a universal problem, and different hair types respond to frizzy hair in different ways. But regardless of whether your hair is straight, wavy, or curly, you can restore your sleek, shiny look with a natural remedy and an anti frizz hair brush.

Ask anyone about dealing with hair frizz, and you’ll probably get a universal groan. Hair frizziness is one of life’s great levelers, affecting men and women of all ages and with all hair types. Hair frizziness may affect straight, curly, wavy, and coiled hair alike, but different hair types can tackle it in different ways. One solution remains the same, however: an anti frizz hair brush.

Why Some Frizz-Fighting Products Don’t Work

Some hair products may claim to cater to frizzy hair, but many don’t live up to their claim, and unfortunately, some can even cause further damage to your hair.

In particular, avoid shampoos and conditioners that contain harsh chemicals like sulfur or alcohol. These chemicals can strip any remaining moisture from your hair, causing it to be even drier and more brittle than it was before.

When your hair is frizzy, it can be tempting to reach for the hair straightener or curling wand to temporarily fix the problem. But the fix is just that – temporary – and applying heat to your already dry hair will only make the problem worse in the long term. In a similar way, applying silicone-based hair products to your hair will fix your frizziness problem temporarily by smoothing the hair cuticles with a layer of silicone, but it is likely to make your problem even worse in the long term.

Two DIY Natural Coconut Remedies for Frizzy Hair

At its simplest, hair frizziness is your hair’s way of telling you that it lacks moisture. Many hair care products will promise to add moisture and nourishment back into your hair but as we have seen, in many cases chemicals are not the best solution to solve a frizzy hair problem.

In addition to an anti frizz hair brush (more on that later), coconut is a wonderful, completely natural way to nourish and add moisture back into your too-dry hair. Coconut can be applied to your hair in one of two ways, both of which are equally effective and completely natural.

Coconut Oil Hair Treatments Image - FB

First, coconut oil can be combined with antioxidant-rich Vitamin E to create an oil treatment that your hair will love. The process is as simple as mixing one part Vitamin E oil with four parts cold-pressed coconut oil, and applying the mixture generously throughout your hair and on your scalp. Leave the oil on your hair for 40 minutes, then wash your hair as normal. Applied up to two times per week, this coconut oil blend will provide deep conditioning to your hair that will go a long way towards reducing frizziness.

The second method is to create a hot oil treatment using coconut milk. This time, the coconut milk should be warmed before it is applied to your hair and scalp, and then left for 30 minutes. As with the coconut oil blend, the hot oil treatment can be washed out as normal and applied up to two times per week.

When used in conjunction with an anti frizz hair brush, a natural coconut treatment will provide deep conditioning and nourishment for your hair, making it shiny, strong, and – most importantly – smooth and frizz free. The only decision you need to make is whether to choose a cold oil blend or a hot oil treatment.

Fighting Frizz: Straight Hair

Of all the different hair types, straight hair is most likely to smooth itself out over time, but otherwise frizzy straight hair can still be aggravated by too much heat or by over washing. Wash straight hair a maximum of four times per week, and only blow dry it until it is about 75 percent dry.

Fighting Frizz: Wavy Hair

Wavy hair should be washed a maximum of three times per week and is best air dried. A small amount of avocado oil or macadamia oil will do wonders to your hair if applied to the ends and bottom one-third of the lengths of your hair.

Fighting Frizz: Curly Hair

To keep frizziness at bay, curly hair should never be washed more than twice per week. Air drying is always best, but it you’re running short on time, dry your hair from the ends upwards and always use a diffuser. An anti frizz hair brush in conjunction with a small amount of natural oil will help your curls to stay smooth and frizz-free.
